In this contemporary world, the topic of consuming fast food has sparked a debate. While some argue that educating can be solution for this issue, others hold the belief that it would fail to be a best idea. I, personally, agree with the latter argument for a couple of sound reasons.
On the one hand, nutrition education can raise people’s awareness of the long-term consequences of excessive unhealthy food consumption, enabling them to make more informed dietary choices. The government should create a healthier food environment and regulate food advertising. In detail, public schools should teach the root cause of the issue and governments must reduce the consumption of processed foods. As a result, it would success to be shape people’s eating habits.
On the other hand, I and others think that although educating people can improve nutritional awareness, knowledge alone cannot shape healthy behavior. Many people addicted to aggressive food marketing and they have deeply ingrained eating habits because, fast food is convenient and affordable. For instance, people can buy them easily and consume quickly, when they are in a hurry. Therefore, relying on exclusively on education may have limited results. Consequently, despite the harmful and unhealthy foods have detrimental effects on health, people continuously consume them.
In conclusion, although the solution of avoiding junk foods are teaching people to healthy diet and restrict useless foods, I believe that government intervention would fail to tackle the easy availability and consumer incentives.
