Some people maintain that many people consume too much junk food can be addressed by education; others reject this notion, saying that this education will not work. While the plan of raising people’s awareness about eating a lot of junk food cannot resolve this problem completely, I believe it still plays an important role in reducing fast food consumption.
On the one hand, people assume that educating people about consuming junk food is not the best way. Instead, they think the government needs to enact stricter rules in limiting fast food, because no one will stop eating this type of food voluntarily. For example, the government can impose a higher tax on this kind of food, so the rate of buying junk food will decline gradually. In addition, serving junk food is always a top choice for numerous people nowadays, because they need something to eat quickly for lunch, or for an extra meal in the afternoon. Therefore, educating will not work effectively, rather it needs to combine with others approaches to achieve better results.
On the other hand, it must be remembered that cutting down junk food consumption will be solved by education. Firstly, the school can have a small lesson to talk about the influences of consuming fast food on students’ health. They can show evidence about health problems of people who eat too much junk food in their daily life. Moreover, teenagers usually use social media, so promoting the project about eating junk food can have a positive impact on people’s behavior. Korea is a good example because it has a famous reality show called ” Daily life among teenagers”, it shows people about the risks of eating junk food, leading to obesity, high blood, and heart disease.
In summary, although educating people about eating too much junk food can damage their health will not solve these problems totally, it is still a significant step in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
