Nowadays, the dramatic rise in junk food consumption across all age groups has raised concerns about its harmful health effects and sparked debates over whether the government should manage the industry similarly to drugs, alcohol and tobacco. In my opinion, I believe that some drug, alcohol and tobacco regulations are necessary, but treating junk food exactly like these harmful consumables may not be appropriate
Firstly, this is simply because it allows inhabitants to grab a meal promptly without spending time cooking, especially when fast food is made within a few minutes, could be taken away, ordered online, and convenient food restaurants could be found everywhere. For example, young Vietnamese students are always busy as they must study from morning till dawn, so fast food is the best choice because they can eat within a few minutes and have more time to take breaks or naps.
Secondly, junk food is not inherently addictive or as harmful as drugs or something else so it is unfair to control junk food since it causes no harm to society. Unhealthy food causes some diseases such as obesity and heart related problems only when users consume a significant quantity of unhealthy food. However, drugs, alcohol and tobacco are the main source for causing criminal behavior. For example, eating too much fast food can make teenagers themselves obese; however, drug use or addiction might lead to dangerous phenomenon such as raping and killing other people for money. As a result, national governing officials should control drug, alcohol and tobacco industries under strict control rather the unhealthy food sector.
For the reasons mentioned, I believe it is more beneficial fornational governing officials to manage the pre-cooked food industry in a lighter way compared to the strict legislations imposed on harmful substances.
