These days individuals argue that children had better to have a choice to study challenging subjects, particularly mathematics and philosophy at school. Despite the fact that some people believe that learning these subjects is a obligatory for each student, I would agree that pupils should have a right to option some subjects or not.
One main reason that I support this opinion is all students are individuals, which means that they have a preference in type of subjects. To put it differently, on the one hand, there are students who have an analytical mindset, which enable them easily solve some mathematical tasks. Thus, these students may struggle with other kinds of subjects, such as philosophy, which can lead to demotivation since these learners find philosophy as a boring science. On the other hand, there are those who would prefer philosophy and literature rather than mathematics and physics because they are keen in learning abstract topics. It is undeniable that children with this type of mindset often suffer from mathematical science.
Another factor that deserves consideration is that providing schoolchildren a chance to choise which subject they want to learn may lead to achieve higher scores on their exams since students can focus only on essential subjects in their field. In other words, pupils will not need to spread their vast time and resources on studying unnecessary subjects that are not even associated with their future career. As a result, they can have more flexible schedule that helps them to prepare for only exams that are in priorate.
In conclusion, while it is argued that children must learn every subject at school, I hold on view that student should have an opportunity to choose which subject they will study.
