Nowadays, many student struggle in some school subjects such as maths or philosophy. While some people argue that these difficult subject should be optional instead of compulsory in school. Although allowing student choose their subject may reduce pressure in study. I believe that some difficult subjects should be compulsory because they help student to learn important knowledge and develop essential skills.
On the one hand, making difficult subjects optional could have several advantages. First, student can focusing on their interested subjects and their abilities. For example, some student showed talent in art or languages, which perform better if they do not need to spend more time studying advanced mathematics. As a result, students may feel less stressed and more motivated to learn. In addition, reducing compulsory subjects may improves student’s mental health because many young people experience anxiety and pressure from difficult academic course.
On the other hand, I believe that certain subjects should still be compulsory despite their challenging. Subjects such as mathematics help students develop logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and analytical abilities, which are useful in daily life and future careers. Even though students not enjoy these subjects, the basic knowledge is still necessary in modern society. Furthermore, many young people are often too young to decide which subjects match them in the future. If school allow students to choose their need subjects, they may lose opportunities in the future.
In my opinion, school should improve the way to teach more effectively than cancel compulsory subjects. Teachers can provide more interesting activities and support children who struggle in academically. This approach would help students learn difficult subjects while still receiving a balanced education.
In conclusion, although making difficult subjects optional may reduce stress for some students, I believe that essential subjects should continue to teach in school because they develop important skills and prepare children for the future.
