Band 7+: Some cities have vehicle-free days when private cars, trucks, and motorcycles are banned from the city center. Public transportation like buses, taxis, and metros are advised. To what extent do you think the advantages of this policy outweigh the disadvantages?

There are cities that designate certain days for rest from private transport usage, while public vehicle options such as taxis, coaches and subways remain available for use. I totally agree with this statement because it helps to mitigate pollution levels and encourage people to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts. Additionally, restricting car usage leads to fewer traffic congestions.

The main reason why I believe for government intervention in regulating transportation is to decrease the air pollution which is caused by carbon dioxide emissions. With the increasing number of vehicles on the roads, there is a corresponding rise in emissions and exhaust fumes. To illustrate, to make less air pollution in the cities, individuals should take public transport rather than driving. This shift can enhance public awareness of environmental problems stemming from harmful gases, which are major contributors to the greenhouse effect.

Another significant benefit of limiting private vehicle usage is the potential reduction in traffic congestion. Governments should allocate more resources to public transportation infrastructure to ease traffic congestion. For instance, nowadays public vehicle systems often suffer from issues such as slow service and unreliability. However, with increased government investment, modern public transports can offer faster, more efficient and affordable services. Moreover, well-deigned transport systems can provide comfort and convenience to commuters.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that advantages of restricting private car usage outweigh the disadvantages. By promoting use of public transport, cities can significantly reduce air pollution and alleviate traffic congestion. This approach not only benefits the environment by also promotes healthier and more sustainable urban living.
