Band 6+: Some consumers are increasingly choosing to buy goods that are produced in their local area, rather than imported goods. What are the reasons for this? Is this a positive or a negative trend?

One school of thought suppose that the dwellers are likely to purchase domestic groceries rather than foreign products. This essay attempts to shed light on the driving factors behind this tendency before concluding that this is indeed an encouraging movement.

There are two major reasons as to why the inhabitants tend to buy merchandise that are made in their area. One reason is that they have an affordable price. This is because the price of a product depends on the shipping cost, which is decreased to the lowest extent compared to the oversea goods, thereby stimulating the buyers to change their shopping. Another reason is the patriotism of each individual. Mark Carney, who is primary minister of Canada, encourages Canadians consuming the inland products to avoid the economic dependability from the United States.

To reinforce those aforementioned reasons, there are a host of compelling reasons as to why I am convinced that it is an advantageous trend. First and foremost, this helps the private economy become more thriving, thereby creating a myriad of jobs for people who live in this area. As a result, the rate of unemployment would gradually decrease, as well as those negative socialities such as rubber. Secondly, this particular place would be well-developed, which attracts more people who are inclined to settle down. A pertinent example for this, Toronto is known as a big city and has a large amount of population and self-employed stores.

In conclusion, there are some underlying motives behind this phenomenon, and its upsides are weightier than its drawbacks.
