Consumption of local goods has seem to gain more ground than goods shipped into the coiuntry. Some say it is because of the cost while some others think devaluation of local goods.
The reasons for the increase purchase of locally made goods can stem from reduced price, availability and acessibilty of goods when needed, uplifting trade of community members and the ability to stand alone as a nation in terms of meeting the needs of the people.
While some consider this as a positive trend, some people downgrade the quality of locally made goods because they think it is of low standards and cannot supply the essential requirements to make them healthy. I will think of the opposite by tiliting towards the positive side as locally made goods supply more nutrients to stay healthy, they are less costly and readily available.
One striking example from my personal experience is the importation of polished rice. At a time in my country rice was imported at a cost of hundred thousand naira and we could buy similar, less expensive local rice for sixty thousand naira which is more nutritious.
In conclusion, what you derive from the goods purchased matters whether locally made or imported goods, just tilt towards what works best for you.
