It is becoming increasingly popular for consumers to choose products that are manufactured locally instead of imported ones. This trend is mostly attributed to the cost-effectiveness of these products and political stances. I believe that this behavior can positively impact a country’s economy and individuals.
There are two main reasons why many people prefer buying local goods. Firstly, these products are significantly cheaper. This is due to the fact that these goods are not subjected to taxes, customs, or any other importing fees. In Egypt, where these fees are high, the price of local fruits and vegetables are affordable in comparison to the ones that are brought in from overseas, considering that there are no added fees on them. Secondly, many people buy locally made products as a way of boycotting or protesting the political policies of some countries. This behavior show a political and societal stance, from the perspective of these societies, in the hopes of pressuring these countries, by directly impacting their economies, to change their policies on some matters.
In my opinion, the growing popularity of purchasing local products is definitely beneficial. One reason is that it helps countries strengthen their economy. This is because it aids them in maintaining their national reserve of foreign currencies, which in turn prevents the local currency from collapsing. Egypt, for instance, has been effectively doing this, and as a result, it is forecasted that their economy will improve in the near future. Moreover, this behavior will reduce unemployment rates, as it will create more jobs for people since there will be high demand for local products. This will encourage factories to increase their production and hire more people.
In conclusion, it is evident that the low prices of local goods and political stances are the primary factors behind the popularity of purchasing local products, which can only be seen as positive.
