Band 5+: Some employers reward members of staff for their exceptional contribution to the company by giving them extra money. This practice can act as an incentive for some but may also have a negative impact on others. To what extent is this style of management effective? Rewards are associated with good performances in every field. Many companies show their gratitude to the employees for their performance by giving incentives. However, many people believe that it is a bad habit as it might create an adverse impact on people whose performance are average. I strongly believe that this is a good tendency, and, in this essay, I will explain why I believe that this method is very successful as well as the other methods organizations can adopt to encourage the employees.

One of the positives of giving incentives is that it would motivate average workers to work harder. The reason for this is when employees understand they would get rewards for their efforts that would increase their dedication to the organization. This would have a positive impact on the employees’ mindset that would reflect in their team work which would be beneficial for company’s growth. For example, a recent study showed that people who work in a pleasant environment produce greater outcomes than persons who operate in unfavourable surroundings. So I believe the incentive schemes be implemented to boost the performance of the employees.

However the organizations have other options like forwarding the employees to the next step in their job which would definitely encourage workers to work harder. This is because any individual would be wanting to grow in their profession and if the companies are fast forwarding their promotions, it would definitely create a encouraging impact on the workers, and they will act accordingly. For instance, the work culture followed by Tech Giant Google is similar to this method and according to an article covering the workers from different companies, the google employees were the happiest among them. Thus promotions or next step in their jobs as token of appreciation for their good performance is similarly good option in my view.

In conclusion, incentive plans create a positive outlook among employees, which is advantageous to the company’s growth, whereas recognising good performance with promotions also has a favourable influence on employees.
