Nowadays, imported food is becoming more and more popular, leading to a debate over it. Some people argue that countries should be responsible for producing food that is eaten in their country, instead of importing food from other countries, while some other people believe that imported food has some advantages that can not be replicated. I believe that countries should import as little as possible.
To start with, there are several benefits of producing most of the food that is eaten in their country in various aspects, including economy, environment, and time considerations. Firstly, self-producing most of the food that needs to be eaten in the country is less time-consuming and more economic. Not only do domestic productions save the time spent on the long duration of delivery processes, it also saves money costs for imported productions, which are usually associated with a large amount of money as the source of other countries’ profits. Secondly, it is more environmentally-friendly for countries to produce most of the food needed by itself. It is the convenience of producing to meet the country’s demands that helps protect the environment by preventing wastes from fuels and packages used during the long delivery of imported food.
On the other hand, some people argue that there are some unreplicated advantages associated with importing food. They believe that importing food from other countries increases the varieties of food in the country, enabling people to have cuisines from different parts of the world while staying in their own countries. However, they overlook the fact that not all imported food is safe. It tends to be more likely for imported food to grow bacteria due to the long delivery distance and time, leading to concerns about food security in the country.
In conclusion, I believe that there are several benefits of relying on its own country to meet food demands and importing as little as possible from environmental and economical perspectives.
