People hold different perspectives on whether engaging with political news is essential or if it’s just a time-consuming activity. Personally, I believe that spending extra time on this type of news is not particularly crucial in our daily lives.
On one hand, individuals, especially older adults, often spend their leisure time engaging with political news. Reading numerous articles or watching interviews with politicians can become a fascinating daily habit for them. The primary reason for this is that many retirees have more free time and are looking for effective and interesting news that impacts the overall well-being of their country. They are always interested in what changes may occur and how these changes will affect the economy, society, and education. Additionally, they can stay easily informed about fluctuations in the income of various demographics and government expenditures through political news.
On the other hand, listening to or reading about politicians doesn’t guarantee positive outcomes for individuals. We cannot change new laws that significantly influence our lives, which can lead to stress and anxiety about the future. For example, if a person reads negative news about policies enacted by certain politicians, it may cause them concern and dramatically impact their daily life. Furthermore, spending leisure time on political news does not contribute positively to their health, education, or worldview. Instead, they could engage in physical activities that promote their health or read about non-stressful subjects. For instance, watching documentaries about animal habitats and observing their lifestyles can be more relaxing and may have therapeutic effects.
In conclusion, while some people have a strong tendency to follow political news and dedicate a significant portion of their time to it, I firmly believe that this is ultimately a time-wasting activity that leads to increased worries.
