While some believe that governments should allocate funds for retired, unemployed and differently abled citizens as it is their sole purpose to ensure their well-being, others think this responsibility lies with their families. I agree with the latter since familial bonds are stronger, and those in need should always have the previllege to resort to their families for help.
On the one hand, governments have a significant role in carrying out their duties to protect its own citizens. This is because those vulnerable were once responsible for providing a service to the nation. Whether it was through hardworking jobs or tiresome public services, they need to be appreciated by governmental funding for the for the service they provided for the nation. This could be done in the form of housing, medical care support or even working opportunities. For example, a retired army veteran, who is now disabled due to the spoils of war, should be praised for their sacrifice and supported financially by their own government. However, I believe that governmental organisations have other responsibilities, such as developing health and education sectors, which they require substantial amounts of money. As a result, allocating funds to a specific group of people might not be practical.
From another perpective, others nations think that this financial responsibility should be held by the individual’s own family. Bonds between members of a family are known to be the strongest ones, as they are deeply connected not only on a social but also an emotional level as well. Since individuals within families have grown up together they share a degree of responsibility to take care of on another at times of peril. For example, if a person is umemployed and struggling financially with living expenses, he or she must be given the support financially by their relatives to facilitate with their daily needs. Therefore, I believe that is a family duty to make sure that everyone in the family is living a good quality of life.
In conclusion, although some think that governments should supply funds for these vulnerable individuals, I believe that they have other priorities to attend to. Therefore, it is upto families to financially sustain one another to improve their lives overall.
