Firstly, with a primary desire to obtain high grades and superior in the class, motivated students would dedicate themselves to home studying and practicing. Secondly, an academic curriculum is often restricted targeting primarily in key concepts lecturing by teachers. Therefore, students seeking a more comprehensive understanding of a particular topic may require practice through a number of homework assignments. This intensive work is expected to improve the outcome of examinations. Finally, students who find it’s hard to absorb too much information would benefit from an expanded training session to meet academic levels. Thus, significantly excessive homework is often imperative.
However, I dispute that assignment of homework excessively is ineffective to students’ academic results. Expanding work after various subjects at school can cause exhaustion when students return home, even though making further study would be insignificant and counterproductive. In addition, students’ overall development accounts for other activities like watching, entertaining and playing. An example of this case is English acquisition by spending time engaging with English channel sources which can help them to improve their language skills not fully developed in school. Although the main purpose of assigning homework is aiming to enhance and boost educational outcomes, its expectation can be weakened by a lack of mental capacity to fully absorb the new information. Therefore, an approach in a balance should be considered.
