Marriage ceremonies are becoming larger and costlier day by day. The trend of bigger and more expensive weddings is mostly a negative development because it creates heavy financial stress and promotes unhealthy social pressure. However, it will discuss this in detail and conclude the same in the following.
The most important reason is that an expensive wedding ceremony is nothing but a wastage of money. It creates financial and mental pressure on middle-class families. For example, if anyone organizes a large party for a wedding, they need to arrange a huge amount of food and services, which is mentally and physically stressful for them. Therefore, people face debt burdens in the long run. It is also mentioned that people feel forced to copy celebrities or compete with friends and relatives to show a high social status.
Furthermore, large parties create huge amounts of trash, including wastage of food, single-use decorations, and paper waste. A bigger party means huge costs and misuse of funds as well as food.
Even though it has numerous negative impacts on society, it does not mean that there are no positive sides. A big wedding program means attending a huge number of relatives, which leads to ultimate social bonding with each other. And sometimes, the richest people want their marriage ceremony to be memorable. Therefore, it helps to boost economic activities, which involve a lot of employment.
In conclusion, we can say that the negative development supersedes the positive development. So, we conclude that bigger and more expensive weddings are a negative development for society.
