Band 5+: Some people are concerned that children spend too much time on computers – playing games, chatting and watching videos. But all this time is actually good preparation for children, who will have to spend many hours working on computers throughout their education and working lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The statement that youngsters are spending too much time in front of the computers – playing video games, chatting with their friends and watching videos. However others believe that this is the best way to prepare working on the computer during children’s education and working lives has sparked widespread debate. While some argue in favor of this prospective others hold the opposite view. This essay will argue that overusing the computer from childhood cannot be beneficial due to causing serious illnesses and behavioral problems, while also acknowledging certain counterarguments.

The primary reason for supporting the view that computers have got more negative effect is it leads to health problems such as weakness of eyesight. For instance, in a study conducted by World Health Organization, it was found that 40 percent of children all around the world who spend their much time on computer suffer from eye-illness and have to wear glasses. Consequently, this demonstrates that negative aspects of using too much computer from the early age are cannot be denied. Furthermore, behavioral problems serves as another compelling justification for this stance, while using the computer with playing video games or watching movies children get negative habits and if leads to change their behavior into bad sides. For example, in a research conducted by American scientists in 2024, it was found that more than 80 percent of young people who plays video games and watch videos more faced behavioral problems of variety of videos and computer games. This clearly illustrates that computer’s negative effects on children’s behavior are not negligible.

Admittedly some may argue that overusing the computer from childhood can be the best preparation for spending long hours in front of the computer in the future for their education and work, while this point is valid to some extend it fails to consider cons of the computer mentioned above. Therefore the argument that computers can help children to get used to spend long hours opposite it does not hold sufficient ground when viewed in this context

In conclusion while it is true that computers are useful for the future, the disadvantages of the laptops for outweigh the advantages. As such, I firmly believe that negative impacts of the computer should be taken into account. To maximize the benefits of this approach, it is crucial to use them with limited time and under the parental control.
