Band 6+: Some people believe that children should not be given homework everyday, while others believe that they must get homework everyday in order to be successful at school. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is often argued that students should not be given homework every day. Meanwhile, some people argue that daily homework is essential to be successful at school. I strongly argue that regular homework plays a significant role in student’s performance at school. Many people argue that students should not be given homework every day. Because students already spend many hours at school, so they need enough time to relax and recover. If teachers from every subject assign large amounts of homework daily, childrens can become stressed and reduce their interest in learning. For instance, after long day at school childrens may want to play sports, spend time with family or develop hobbies, which are significant for their mental health. Therefore I think that giving homework every day may have a negative affect on students well-being.

However, giving students homework daily can be beneficial for their studies. Homework allows learners to revise materials that they have studied in class in order to reinforce it. As a result students are less likely to forget important information and be better prepared for exams and classroom assignments. Moreover, daily assignments encourage students to develop useful skills such as discipline, responsibility, and focusing on study from young age. For example, my younger brother receives homework almost every day, which helps him revise material that he has learned in class. I agree with this view because regular homework helps students reinforce their knowledge and good skills.

In conclusion, although a lot of homework can negatively affect students’ mental health, I believe that daily homework is beneficial when it is balanced. Regular tasks help students improve their knowledge and gain good study habits.
