Many individuals note that homeschooling is more effective than sending their children to school. This essay will explore the pros and cons of homeschooling, as well as whether one outweighs the other.
The reason why numerous parents choose to educate their kids at home is that they think that when children have more flexible school hours, it could affect their learning process positively. Moreover, it gives them a chance to be fully involved in their children’s learning progress. One of the main benefits of homeschooling is that students can learn subjects at their own pace. However, in school, there’s a chance of moving to the next lesson without fully grasping the current one. In the 21st century, scholars can learn from anywhere through online lessons. Online lessons are rewarding, and in some cases, more effective than regular ones. Furthermore, learning individually through watching online lessons helps students become more independent and responsible.
On the other hand, schools teach students to be disciplined and ambitious. Discipline is a trait that every person needs when facing a major issue in their life. One of the skills that motivates individuals to be successful is ambition. Competing with their peers teaches students to study even harder. During their school days, scholars develop discipline and ambition through the constant assessments and packed schedule. Moreover, when the students are learning at their own pace without any competitors and strict timetables, it won’t give them a chance to develop ambition and discipline. While being in school, kids learn how to socialize and communicate with others. Home-schooling doesn’t offer the chance to socialize with others, and in the long run, home-schooled children often face discrimination and become more closed-off.
In conclusion, education at home offers effective school hours and the chance to become more independent. Nevertheless, studying at school teaches traits that are needed in the future. Therefore, I believe the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
