While it is argued that people should take responsibility for reducing environmental pollution, others are in favor of the government’s accountability. From my perspective, both solutions are effective in equal measure.
There are compelling reasons why some people advocate decreasing the amount of pollution is for individuals’ responsibilities. Firstly, pollution is mainly caused by people’s daily activities. For example, the more plastic items people waste, the more contamination occurs such as water pollution or the air quality, which may impact on people’s health, especially respiration. Secondly, if people rely on the government, they have to cooperate effectively. This means that the government cannot solve the problem by themselves; therefore, residents need to conduct the solutions and propagate to others. For these reasons, I believe that it is essential for individuals to protect our ecosystem.
On the other hand, I take the view that the authority is responsible for declining pollution. The first rationale is that they are mostly the first to access information in terms of environmental problems. Thus, they have to find approaches to raise awareness to the residents. Moreover, the government has to take responsibility for environmental consequences. For instance, if the methods which they launch are not successful, not only will the climate become worse, but also people’s quality of life will be affected. For these mentioned reasons, I also believe that environmental protection belongs to the government’s duty.
In conclusion, some believe that whether lessening pollution should be responsible for the government or individuals. However, taking these aforementioned arguments into consideration, I am of the opinion that it would be a good idea to engage in both if possible.
