Certain people believe that international travel helps broadening mind as well as increase understanding between cultures, while others think it can cause countries having similar culture and loose their unique traditions. I would rather agree with the first statement, because people mostly travel for the place and then its culture.
On one hand, international travel may lead to cultural homogenization and the loss of unique traditions. Because of tourism there are a lot of countries that globalized themselves for the tourists, for example; Cities like Bangkok and Prague have part that cater almost entirely to tourists, with little connection to its unique cultural identity.
On the other hand, international travel helps people learn about the different cultures, traditions, food, society, etc. Recently my mom and dad went to Bali and when they came back, they could stop talking about how excellent their culture was and how well they were promoting with tourism. Trips like this help spread word about the country.
Therefor I would like to conclude this essay by saying, even though international travel may lead to cultural and traditional loss, the chances of this happening is really less compared to that of helping us understanding the culture. I strongly believe that international travel is necessary for people to understand the culture and mindset of people from other countries.
