Because of the development of technology and science, people’s opinions have differed as to the role of governments in doing scientific investigations. Although many people argue that states should both implement and control such research, my opinion is that they can be carried out by private companies because of sufficient funds and various areas that are conducted, but it is governments that have responsibility to monitor the research.

It is believed that doing scientific research can become more effective when carried out by private companies, owning to the large amount of money and the variety in the areas that they can manage. First, investigations related to science require modern technology of computers and advanced equipment, leading to the necessity of great funds. Money derived from taxes can be limited and be spent on different expenses, therefore, private companies can supply a more sufficient money for investigating and as a result, the research can be much more effective. Moreover, the more private companies join in investigating, the more numerous aspects that they can explore. It is undeniable that private companies with a range of scientists and experts can investigate more advanced and sophisticated research and have a positive impact on the development of a nation.

However, such investigations should be under the control of governments and states. Governments play an important role in preventing private companies from carrying out illegal and dangerous research that can be harmful for society. In particular, the priority of companies should be making profits, so other aspects such as environment may be ignored. Moreover, governments’ check is one of the key elements that put research into reality. The investigations that are accepted by governments are considered reliable and can be widespread to residents.

In conclusion, although private companies can join in, it is governments’ responsibility to monitor such investigations. With the participating of companies and the control of the states, many effective scientific research can be successful and contribute to the development of the country.
