In modern society, many individuals start to think about the morality of using hard punishment on prisoners. Some of them think that stricter penalties are the best way to decrease the number of crimes in an area while others disagree with that option. In my opinion, people should not use the strict punishment to persecute the crimes.
On the first hand, using consequences does not alway give you the best function. Firstly, at the early time, some of the lawbreakers are afraid of corporal punishment. But then, they will get used to it and start to not care about the sequel. In the end, it has no meaning for people to use it anymore. Secondly, if somebody wants to punish a person, they have to spend a lot of money on it. But they have no way to find out if it works effectively.
On the other hand, some solutions to reduce the crime rates ethically is not a bad idea. Instead of penancing the prisoners, people can ask them to work in the jail for free as a payment for their guilty activities. Or they could be fined numerous money and lose their freedom if they just committed a small offense. And the last way is teaching them the law of that country again to let them know the problems.
In conclusion, these are many other ways to reduce the crime rate that do not need to use hard retribution. For sure, when a crime can only be treated ethically, the chance that they could live normally after going to jail is higher.
