Band 6+: Some people believe that to protect local culture, tourism should be banned in some areas whereas others think that change is inevitable and banning tourism will have no benefits. Discuss both views and give your opinions

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

A group of people think that prohibiting tourism in some regions helps retain local identity. Conversely, others argue that without tourism will lose financial resources and it is not averted alteration. This essay attempts to shed light on two viewpoints before giving my perspective.

Some people are afraid of the cultural loss by tourism because visitors from many countries yield their own identity and traditions that could affected to the domestic custom. Nation’s customs and ceremonies are tailor to all cultures, which are simplified, and this loses the sacredness of traditional rituals. Moreover, by varying the taste of conventional specialties to be appropriated to visitor tastes from other areas, it no longer keep the principle flavor of the region. For instance, indigenous inhabitants frequently cook dishes with the salt flavor but when they process food for tourists, they have to adjust spices to the foreign visitor’s palate.

Advocates for the tourism industry believe that it will bring the revenue when welcoming travelers from other zones due to its various advantages. Firstly, they will generate income from lodging, restaurant services and vendors for tourists, besides entrance fees to amusements or historical monuments also yield a huge turnover that contributes to advance the nation economy. Secondly, tourism assists to educate for young people in the country about national historical and cultural knowledge that creates motivation for further generations to develop and preserve traditional values. I also concur that tourism brings many benefits for a country to foster the national finance.

In conclusion, some ideas suppose that tourism makes conventional cultures are dissolved. Nevertheless, many individuals argue that it yields many advantages for economy and education and I also agree with this idea.
