Nowadays, there has been heated debate about whether the government should use taxpayer funds to look for life on other planets because of many current problems. In contrast, some people think that we should make use of public money to deal with more crucial issues on our own planet. Despite legitimate concerns about finding other planets, I believe this can bring about more benefits in general.
Currently, people have to face the fact that it is likely to arise many environmental problems and lead to more and more unintended consequences which make it difficult for humans to continue existing on this planet. Thereby, there are some approvals of looking for life on other planets. It is probable that this plan can offer a new place which has more natural resources that can cope with the resources shortages and open up new opportunities for industry and technology. Besides, we will be able to deal with different problems such as climate change, environmental pollution, and so on, which are the current unsolved problems.
In contrast, other people claim that instead of wasting public money to look for a new planet, which is an impossible plan, the government should use it to deal with important issues on our own planet. The major reason for this thought is that finding a new planet is so impossible that it is unlikely to have a planet which has any suitable factors for us such as atmosphere, temperature, and so on. Moreover, our planet has many different issues in some fields which require funding to deal with. Therefore, the quality of life can be improved, and other problems will be partly solved. For example, the government can improve the waste treatment technology, facilitate green projects, and so on.
In conclusion, while using public money to find another planet is probably impossible, I believe that it is quite essential to spend money for carrying out some different plans to solve urgent problems on our own planet.
