In today’s world, the question of whether women should work in a country’s police force or military force has sparked ongoing discussion. Some people are in favor of gender equality, believing it brings more benefits, whereas others hold the opposite view that women are not suitable for police force or military force. Personally, I acknowledge the merits of both perspectives, but I am more inclined to support the idea that women should not work in these kinds of jobs.
On one side of the argument, proponents of gender equality claim that choosing a job should not depend on gender. They argue that women can contribute to positive outcomes such as better communication skills, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution skills. A good example of this can be seen in the United States Army and the Israel Defense Forces, where policewomen and military women have played an active role in improving security. As a result, this way of thinking can help society to achieve better defence both now and in the future. For these reasons, it is clear why many people continue to support gender equality.
That said, I am personally convinced that restricting women from certain high-risk roles may be a more beneficial option than gender equality. Although gender equality may be suitable in certain cases, it often lacks the ability to provide to support uniform physical standards, which play a crucial role in combat situations. Therefore, I believe that putting emphasis on higher physical endurance is a more realistic and impactful solution in today’s context.
In conclusion, while there are those who advocate for gender equality due to its benefits like communication skills and emotional intelligence, others emphasize the value of restricting women from police working because of physical requirements. Weighing both perspectives, I firmly believe that prioritizing physical ability over gender in police and military roles provides lasting and meaningful advantages. Ultimately, it may be wise for governments to ensure men work for police in order to make the most of its long term potential.
