There are opposite arguments that education is aiming for the readiness of individuals to fulfill the community’s purposes or only restrain to their personal objectives. In my opinion, education actually covers both aims, and this essay will discuss further about it.

On the one hand, I agree that education trains people to deliver positive outcomes for community, mainly to enhance their quality of life. Generally, education provides fundamental theories, which later can be adopted to conduct paramount discovery and thereafter be implemented to the society. Take, for example, the successful co-operation that has been made by students from chemistry, biology, and medical fields to produce numerous Covid vaccines in 2020. Through years of learning those subjects, they eventually establish significant vaccine products that are not only used to mitigate the detrimental risks but also boost the human’s immune system from the Covid virus. Therefore, it could be argued that one of the educational scheme prepares people to devote their knowledege for collective purposes.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that individual ambitions are also included in educational aspirations, since people want to achieve their dream career. Fundamentally, the purpose of education is to enable the learners obtain numerous knowledge and competency that align with their interest or desire, which later can drive them to pursue their dream work. For instance, people who wish to be a doctor in the long run are going to pursue medical education. Since people can eventually achieve their career fulfillment through education, I also agree that the ambitions from each person are subliminally part of the education objectives.

In conclusion, the ultimate purpose of education is not only to prepare learners for collective purposes. On the other hand, it also carries individuals ambitions in it. Thus, I agree that education prepares a person to achieve both personal and social objectives.
