Many people believe that universities should admit the same amount of male and female in each field. I think gender is not important, so everyone has equal opportunities, based on their abilities.
In my opinion, students should be accepted because of their skills and interests, not because of their gender. If university accept the same number of boys and girls, some students may lose their chance only because of their gender. For example, more boys want to study business, while more girls like studying nursing. It is not fair to stop someone from studying what they are good at.
Also, equal number of men and women students can cause problems in universities. In some subjects, there is not enough students of one gender who want to study that subject. For example, if there are not many boys who want to study medicine, some places may stay empty. This can waste money and make classes very small. Universities should give places to students who really want to study that subject. If they try to make the number of boys and girls the same, some students may not feel comfortable. It is better if everyone choose what they like, so they can study well and do their best.
In conclusion, I believe that men and women should have the same chance to study at university, but it is not necessary to have the same number of students in every subject. The most important thing is that everyone can choose what they like and do their best.
