Getting access to education is a fundamental right of any individual. Therefore, many people prefer to have free education, where government funding universities are in place. I believe that the rising costs of education makes it difficult for many children and young people to attend private colleges. This essay argues that costs associated with university education need to be managed by the government to make education affordable and accessible to everyone regardless of their income, and to promote social equality.
Firstly, one of the key reasons I believe higher education to be funded by the state is that anyone should be able to get quality education regardless of their socio-economic status. At present, high textbook fees, rising tuition fees and other study materials make it impossible for many children to attend a university. If the state sector pays these costs associated with tertiary studies, lots of children who cannot afford to pay for a private college would be able to get their studies completed.
Secondly, education plays a critical role in promoting social equality. For instance, if the government takes steps to spend on university-related payments, students from all backgrounds would be able to receive the same level of education which enables them to acquire the skills they require. While education is accessible for everyone, student drop-offs would be minimized.
In conclusion, when the government ensures that it pays all the expenses associated with the universities, free education is guaranteed for all people irrespective of their backgrounds.
