While many people suggest that the government should regulate violent content in film and television, others argue that such an act is unnecessary. Although violence in movies can have a significantly negative impact on young viewers, I believe that it should not be restricted.
It is understandable why some people support the opinion that violent scenes in movies and on television don’t have to be inspected. The key rationale here is that there are a variety of films that need to contain numerous indispensable fights among characters to reach the movie’s climax. To illustrate, action films perfectly exemplify this situation; the violent scenes play a pivotal role in Hollywood blockbusters, which have been contributing to making this type of film successful and reaping substantial rewards. Therefore, it seems sensible for the advocacy of allowing the quantity of violent content on television and in movies to be uncontrolled.
However reasonable the idea that the authority does not have to stipulate regulations about resorting to violence, I am convinced that acts of violence should be under tight control. This is the fact that many children in modern society, who are clearly unaware, have been consuming a large number of movies with violent content without the control of their parents. Consequently, these unmature kids were obsessed with these acts and had a tendency to commit countless atrocities that seriously injured themselves and others. This is a powerful testament to how family, aside from government, also has a crucial role in checking the level of violence in movies and television.
In conclusion, young people can indeed be influenced by violent behavior in films if they are overexposed to such content without any restriction. However, the majority of people are able to distinguish between reality and fiction and will not bring such behavior to their daily lives; thus, restricting violent content will make action movies bland.
