It is quite evident, that in this day and age, with the advancements of the technology, handwriting in the classical view is fading. Many people prefer to read and write texts that are typed rather than written, and believe handwriting is not as vital as it used to be. For the matter of easier reference, this group will be called group one throughout the essay. Many others still believe, that handwriting is still a necessary skill. This group will be called group 2 in this essay. Both sides of the opposition have valuable points, and this essay will go over some of the points made.
First, looking at this matter with the viewpoint of group one, there is no denying, that standard printed text written with a standard font is easier to read for many individuals, as many handwritten texts may not be easy to read because of bad handwriting. This may suggest that learning efficient typing skills may be more useful for children than trying to improve their handwriting. Moreover, with the help of the new artificial intelligences, nowadays, writing is as easy as it gets. Therefore, children can learn to write better while doing the task.
However, opposing to this opinion, group 2 would suggest, that although it is less common for people to read a hand-written writing, it remains a vital skill for children, as it helps the process of learning. Additionally, this group would argue the overuse of AI in tasks like writings may cause laziness and be a contributor factor to procrastination.
While both sides provide viable points. I believe that it is best not to take a binary approach. Leveraging some techniques from each of the two approaches, might be the best strategy. It is evident that children should learn the skill of handwriting, while being able to utilize new technologies that can help them with writing. Tools like digital pen and papers can help combining the modern technologies and the classical handwriting. By taking these approaches there is a possibility to continue writing with classical approaches with a modern twist.
