For ages, animals have played a significant role in human civilization. They have been used for various purposes such as food, clothing, farming, or being used as laboratory tools. Some people believe using animals for our benefit is acceptable, while others oppose the notion. This essay will discuss both views and why I think exploiting animals for our advantage is wrong.
On the one hand, in the view of people who use animals for their gains, humans are superior to animals, therefore they have the right to use animals for their own needs. Utilizing animals makes jobs easier to do in less time with less effort from humans. These creatures are necessary for some farming activities to be possible such as ploughing in remote areas where there is no technological advancement. Furthermore, they provide humans with daily benefits, like proteins from meat, leather from the skin, and many more.
On the other hand, those who are against animal exploitation argue that this action is animal abuse. They believe that animals can experience pain and suffering, so this action to them is unethical. They advocate for the banning of practices such as factory farming, animal testing, and the use of animals for entertainment purposes. The opponent suggests relying on other means of resources like tractors for farming or consuming vegetarian dishes instead of meat.
In my opinion, it is important to recognize that animals indeed play a crucial role in our lives, however, we still have to try and limit the benefits we derive from them at their expense. While consuming animal meat can be considered essential, raising them in uninhabitable environments and slaughtering them in inhumane ways cannot be tolerated at all. Legislation is required to ensure this.
