It is true that nowadays a number of people think that it is better to grow trees in unclaimed lands, or government lands in urban and suburban areas than constructing new types of accommodations in those lands. Although the need for accommodations is necessary nowadays, I still reckon that planting trees in empty areas is far more crucial and impactful towards society.
On one hand, the undeniable benefits of accommodations have been proved across history. One evident proof is that it HELPS tackle the housing problem in many populated cities, countries. It means that with the rise of the population in the world, accommodations are desperately needed to hold and shelter the newer populations over the older and more stable ones. For instance, Ho Chi Minh City is the most populous Vietnamese City, with the newer generation to come, different types of houses and shelterS are constructed and put in use yearly,CHẤM therefore it ensures that every citizen have a place to stay, start and develop careers and families, helping with the societal base and future economic benefits.
On the other hand, with a growing number of buildings and accommodations in the cities and nearby ones , planting trees in empty land in those cities and town areas is a measure that will be proving to have future benefits. Firstly, with the current different pollution and temperature problems in urban and suburban areas, growing trees in those areas can help with reducing them. In particular, the natural mechanism of plants and trees helps with the current situation of the air in the cities, which consumes carbon dioxide and releases Oxygen making the air feels fresher and cleaner to breathe in, therefore can even attract newer citizens from national to international to live there. One example is Hanoi’s millions of trees in the city program which attempt to combat the urban heat, improve the air quality, and enhance the urban environment, attracting many tourists and citizens because of its cleanliness. Second, as of urban landscape, combining planted trees in empty lands among cities and towns with the surrounding buildings in urban areas and the suburbs might improve the scenery and environmental beauty as well. It means that plain buildings with trees planted in the empty lands near them can be key decorations to not only that building but other surrounding structures and facilities, also eye catching and eye friendly.
In conclusion, although the empty lands can bring a lot benefits towards the current housing problems across cities and towns, planting trees can be more impactful towards the environment and the society
