Band 5+: Some people say that it's better to teach language students in small classes, whereas others think the number of people does not matter. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is thought by some people that language schools should offer small classes for learners, while others say it does not matter how big the classes are. I think, although some classes are designed for a limited amount of students, I believe that the number of students does not matter.

On the one hand, learning in small groups provides many benefits. This means that teachers can be able to concentrate on their students easily and tailor their expertise one by one. This method will help their students to enhance and assimilate a particular skill faster than learning in the big classes. In the speaking part, for example, students have an opportunity to take turns and commute to their friends or talk with their teachers. Additionaly, this in itself teaches study skills such as synthesising sources and even discriminate between sources easily. Besides they will get some examples of how to use phrases or sentences correctly from their clasmates and usefull advice from their supervisors.

On the other hand, others assume that the number does not play a major role in learning a language. It might be said that some learners who adabt to all environments simply learn a language even in an awfull sphere. That’s to say, these people want to be educated in a competitive atmosphere and strive to coordinate their studies as part of group work, hopefully improving their linguistic skills without difficulties. For instance, after the reading and listening lesson, they have a group study to share ideas from their own thought as well as discussing is it right or wrong. Furthermore, they can explain to whoever still does not understand the lessons they took in the classes.

Overall, both small and big classes have their own merits to their learners distinctively. In my opinion, It really does not matter how many total students are. As discussed above, larger group does not have any drawbacks and it completely overweights small classes in terms of learning language.
