There has been an ongoing debate regarding whether school uniforms should be mandatory for primary school leaners. I totally agree with this argument. It is mainly because having them on can both reinforce disciplinary acts and promote a sense of unity.
First, school uniforms have been playing a vital role in reminding young students of what to do and what not to do. They are well informed that they are now at schools now, not at home any longer. Therefore, some of their typical behaviors like sleeping, crying and/or procrastinating are not very welcomed when sitting in a classroom. They subconsciously accept that fact that it is compulsory to be regularly on time, consistently do homework, and not to hurt or hit anyone. Troubles or punishments are awaiting if they break any school rule.
Additionally, with same school uniforms, children are found to be more united. Since everyone looks the same to the most extent, the idea that I am richer or better vanishes. Each student will naturally help each other deal with academic tasks such as a presentation and a discussion without any discrimination. Furthermore, a teacher can also find it easy to assign her students to do groupworks or pair works with little worry that her little pupils will hurt or fight their teammates.
In conclusion, it is my strong belief that school uniforms should be used since this approach can not only teach small children to be very well disciplined but also keep them physically and mentally united.
