The importance of history is often challenged, with some people even suggesting that more people learning business instead would be more beneficial for society. I totally agree with this view for two main reasons.
On the one hand, studying business is essential these days. Knowledge of skills such as marketing and sales is more important than ever before, not only for people but also for the community. On a personal level, this expertise ensures a better career and financial stability, making the skills more worthwhile. I also believe that most fields, such as trade and manufacturing, that directly influence national GDP also require a certain degree of business understanding, thereby benefiting society and allowing it to prosper. For example, the USA is considered one of the most economically prosperous countries because it encourages entrepreneurship and the acquisition of financial literacy among its citizens.
On the other hand, I would also argue that business studies are more applicable for everyday people. While I acknowledge that learning history helps preserve cultural identity, it does not necessarily mean that everyone should learn it. In fact, I believe that only a certain percentage of the population is passionate and talented enough to master it, and as long as we have these people, our national identity will not be lost. This is especially true in this day and age when people are able to learn history through books, films, and online platforms such as YouTube. However, this is not the case with studying business, since it is now highly in demand and cannot be learned everywhere, at least not at a proficiency level. Therefore, I hold the view that it should be prioritized over studying history for most people.
In conclusion, I believe that business studies are more significant and relevant for both people and the community than studying history
