People have different views as to whether the fashion industry is detrimental to the environment, particularly in developed nations. While I absolutely agree with this view, I believe it does more harm than good.
Critics of environmentally harmful habits cite various reasons to support their stance. If people continue to overconsume natural resources like water and food, rely on non-sustainable practices, and produce excessive waste, they contribute to serious environmental degradation, which includes rising sea levels, health problems, and an increase in natural disasters, like earthquakes and floods. This process can ultimately damage ecosystems and disrupt livestock by threatening the planet’s future.
Critics of unhealthy food choices cite various reasons to support their stance. If people regularly consume fast-food processed meals and sugary drinks, they expose themselves to serious health risks, which include obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. As a result, they experience a decline in physical health energy levels, thereby negatively impacting their overall quality of life. Take my home country of Uzbekistan, where the availability and affordability of fast food have made it a popular option, especially among young people. Unfortunately, this has led to an increase in diet-related health issues. I think the fashion industry has a detrimental effect on the environment, much like the fast-food industry.
On the other hand, in my opinion, people do not wear fashionable clothes. They do some sports because engagement in sports offers a variety of benefits. From a health perspective, if you participate in sports activities such as basketball, volleyball, and football, they lead a physically active lifestyle or increase their physical activity, which helps them maintain a healthy weight and strengthen their immune systems. As a result, they are less likely to suffer from chronic health conditions like obesity and diabetes, thereby improving not only life expectancy but also their overall quality of life.
In conclusion, the fashion industry’s impact on the environment is strikingly similar to that of the fast-food industry
