People have different views about whether or not history is still crucial in modern life. While others say that history is no longer necessary now, I would agree that history plays an important role in the modern world.
In this day and age, people might argue that history is less important because knowledge and experience passed down by ancestors becomes obsolete. The reason is that the advancement of technology has generated a novel operating principle for our world, which has created a huge difference between the technology-driven world and previous generations. This renders knowledge of the past irrelevant. As a result, applying historical knowledge may lead to the difficulty in solving contemporary issues.
