While some opponents believe that voluntary facilities have to support people worldwide, other proponents think that charities should focus only on providing help to people locally. I am a staunch believer that philanthropic organizations should provide assistance locally to people of their own homeland.
On the one hand, some individuals think that charitable organizations should be providing financial, and medical care aid to people all over the world. In other words, these organizations have to do research and highlight populations that are in need of food, or shelter. An eminent example is the “UNICEF”, a worldwide humanitarian foundation which directs its activities to aid children in countries which are below the poverty line, and focuses on children overall well-being. It can be noted that there is a myriad of organizations playing an indispensable role in providing financial aid, and health care to poor people. Despite their deeds, poor individuals might had died.
On the other hand, proponents believe that philanthropic foundations have to concentrate their deeds on local population supporting them with needed financial aid or medical care. Certainly, this is more logically, because if a foundation receives donations from home country citizens, these citizens would like to evidence the outcomes and results of their donations in their Country. For instance, plenty of charitable organizations in Egypt are collecting donations from home citizens and businessmen during the holy month of Ramadan. These organizations share their activities with the donators on social media platforms. What can be said is that when charitable foundations push their aid locally, more individuals will evidence the change influenced by the donations and thus, people will be more motivated to donate.
In conclusion, after this essay has shown the different points of views of citizens regarding the way philanthropic foundations push their donations, and the merits of donations. I would like to reiterate my opinion that non-profit foundations should utilize donations to encounter the challenges which their local citizens are facing.
