Learning how to read is often the first and the most important step in a child’s education. While some feel that the process is best learned using paper books, I strongly believe that children gain literacy faster from e-books.
On the one hand, it could be argued that children should learn to read in the way they have for centuries, using books. Advocates of learning to rean by using traditional books argue that children love to fell the paper between their fingers while turning pages, and this interactivity helps the educational process. In addition, they claim that most of the reading process happens in the bed therefore, using traditional books is better as it do not emit blue lights which help children to fall asleep during reading safely.
However, I side with those who believe that using e-books is more modern and a better alternative for paper books. Today, more and more money is being poured into creating applications that accelerate the learning process. Whereas, in the past parents had to supervise their children learning process, these apps allow kids to practice on their own.
Moreover, these apps allow children to save new words or practice difficult words again and again with different methods without any further pressure on them. Finally, as everything is nearly done on the computer, learning reading on e-book will educate them skills that will last with them a lifetime.
In conclusion, Although paper books allow children to feel the papers between their fingers while turning pages, e-readers offers them applications that speed up the learning process. Therefore, I strongly believe that children should start learning to read on the more modern e-readers.
