It is often debated whether incorporating technology into the classroom is more beneficial than relying on traditional teaching methods. While digital tools offer interactive and extensive learning resources, traditional methods foster strong interpersonal connections and focus. In my opinion, a blended approach that combines both methods yields the best educational outcomes.
Crritics argue that digital devices, although an essential part of modern education, can discourage active learning and limit personalised learning experiences. They contend that excessive exposure to interactive content and instant access to information may discourage students from engaging in more traditional forms of learning. However, research suggests that technology can offer greater efficiency than conventional methods. For instance, the increasing use of computer-based IELTS testing demonstrates how digital technology has transformed language assessment. This suggests that modern technology can provide greater benefits than traditional methods when it is used appropriately.
On the other hand, traditional teaching methods remain valuable because they can foster stronger interpersonal relationships and encourage greater student engagement. Face-to-face interaction encourages active participation and allows for direct communication between teachers and students. This enables teachers to promote student engagement and help students remain focused. Moreover, traditional classroom environments can promote sustained concentration and help students develop essential social skills. Therefore, rather than completely replacing conventional methods with digital tools, combining the two approaches may produce better educational outcomes.
In conclusion, although digital technology can provide greater efficiency and access to information, traditional methods remain valuable for fostering interpersonal interaction and concentration. Therefore, i firmly believe that combining strenghts of both approaches is the most effective way to achieve better educational outcomes.
