Band 7+: Some people think that cinemas will one day close due to the popularity of online streaming services for films and series. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Cinema has been a powerful force that influences audiences worldwide in cultural expression, social commentary, artistic creativity, and entertainment. There is a controversial topic about whether cinemas will disappear because of the high rate of streaming films and series at home. From my perspective, I wholeheartedly believe that cinemas are likely to continue existing.

The first reason why cinemas can not be replaced by streaming at home is that viewers can achieve an immersive experience with them. This is because cinemas provide an unparalleled experience like massive screens, high-quality sound systems, and advanced features. This theatrical environment ideal is created for a variety of genres like action, science fiction, and especially blockbuster films, helping viewers be intrigued with these setups. Film studios like Marvel and DC exemplify 3D visuals, powerful sound of explosions, or the sweeping visual landscapes of a fantasy world, stimulating people to see these blockbusters in theaters.

Going to the movie theater also enhances the social and communal aspects that online viewing can not obtain. Cinemas offer a unique social environment for family outings, dates, or gatherings with friends which allows people to share the emotional highs and lows of a movie with others. The laughter in a comedy, the shared silence in a tense thriller, or the collective gasps in a horror movie contribute to a communal experience that heightens enjoyment. For instance, horror films like A Quiet Place or The Conjuring are comprehensive choices for communal viewing, since audiences often react in unison to scary or suspenseful scenes, thus, the shared energy in the room adds to the excitement, making the experience more memorable.

In conclusion, I am a strong proponent that cinemas will not come to an end since they go beyond entertainment to connect people, influence perspectives, and contribute to cultural and social development.
