There are numerous factors that can directly affect an employee’s work quality, overall performance of the organisation and one of them is dress. While some state that employers should not interrupt worker’s dresses I personally consider there should be a standardisation on a particular dress code in organisations.
One of the benefits of dress code is professionalism. Emloyees who wear the same dresses such as t-shirts, trousers, shoes, etc. can show a high level of professionality and promote equality for a healthy job environment. Furthermore, dress code has a significant impact on productivity and performance in terms of professionalism. For instance, a dress code which is implemented for sales managers in an organisation can create brand identity and good perception in the customer’s mind. These are only some of the reasons why I support a strict dress code policy in the workplace.
Another reason why I support this idea is team cohesion. It directly fosters a sense of unity and empowers employees to work with high inspiration and professionality. For instance, there is an organisational event where employees compete with each other and employees have a dress code which represents a specific department. In this case, workers realise that they all work for a common goal, simultaneously a dress code distinguishes them from other people and departments. Consequently, it causes higher productivity on performances.
In summary, due to professionalism and team cohesion which positively impact performance of the organisation and employee’s work quality, a dress code policy plays a vital role in the workplace.
