There are many various approaches to dress code in the workplace. While some say employers should not care about the way their employees dress, I believe there should be a strict dress code policy in the workplace for several reasons.
One of these reasons is formality. A strict dress code policy helps to demonstrate the level of formality and professionalism in the workplace. Formality is not only good for the working environment but also makes the company attractive. People tend to trust individuals who wear suits or look formal. For example, in the banks, dress code enables customers to feel more confident about their issues, as employees appear knowledgeable and competent. This is only one of the reasons why I prefer a strict dress code policy.
Apart from formality, I think equality is another benefit. With the help of a dress code policy, people look similar regardless of their income. For instance, without a dress code, employees with higher incomes can wear clothes which is more expensive and fashionable than others. All of which can lead to differences in classes.
