It is occasionally argued that government should invest more money in development of medical or educational institutions, while supporting amusement or recreation activities becomes a second priority for the country. Even though, each opinion has its good points, I firmly believe that the idea of improving the quality of medicine and education gives a distinct advantage over building theatres and sports stadiums.
Unquestionably, building new entertainment centers brings some benefits for the employment in the country, because this trend creates jobs, attracts tourists, and boosts local businesses, generating an extra tax revenue that can be used later for social needs. What is more, excellent sport facilities encourage people to exercise daily and stay healthy, which can prevent many illnesses and lower future medical coasts. Moreover, such venues bring people together and create a sense of a shared identity, which in the long run, simplifying the teachers’ work in schools.
There is the other side of the coin, enjoyment and pleasure can wait, health and education are basic human needs that affect everyone’s survival and future. The logic behind this is that the money spent on improving the quality of schools or hospitals gives the highest long-term investment in the society, as it produced more skilled workforce that further drives economic growth.
To sum it up, there is a number of people who subscribe to the view, that upgrading theatres and sport stadiums is far more substantial for the prosperity of a country. However, I am of an opinion that, while private companies and local communities can often provide cultural and other facilities for individuals, healthcare and education are underfunded and it is the duty of the government to provide control over these fields for the purpose of minimizing the damage for people that is strict and severe.
