People have different views as to whether individuals today are more dependent on each other or have become more independent. While both perspectives have their merits, I believe that people have grown increasingly interdependent due to the interconnected nature of modern society.
Critics of the idea that people have become more independent cite various reasons to support their stance. When people use modern services like online platforms or delivery apps, they often rely on others to meet their needs, all of which highlights a growing dependence on external support, as well as a decrease in self-reliance. Take my home country of Uzbekistan, where people often turn to community networks for everything from solving personal problems to organizing events. These close-knit social ties demonstrate how much individuals depend on each other in their daily lives.
However, in my view, it is possible that people have become more interdependent rather than entirely independent. Proponents of online gaming cite various reasons to support their stance. When individuals play video games in moderation, they have the chance to find respite from daily stressors like job responsibilities, academic pressures, and family duties, which helps them relieve stress and settle their nerves. This can ultimately provide stress relief and emotional catharsis, thereby fostering not only a sense of happiness and satisfaction but also improving their overall quality of life. Additionally, many people rely on online gaming to connect with others, form friendships, and collaborate, which further strengthens the idea that modern society encourages interdependence rather than independence. People need each other for emotional well-being, happy life, and social interaction.
In conclusion, while it is true that technology has empowered individuals to be more independent, I believe that the complexities of modern life have increased the need for collaboration and mutual support.
