Many believe that it is positive to reward senior management positions with significantly bigger pays in comparison with other employees. I disagree with this opinion as it is necessary to have a some type of equality within the collective and the hierarchy of positions not always aligns with the amount of holder’s responsibilities.
Equality is a key to peaceful environment. If some get a pittance but others obtain huge salaries, it might cause protests in the workplace leading to chaos and wasted workday. Less-privileged employees could feel unsatisfied and even leave their jobs. Additionally, the situation is made worse with the fact that positions of parents impact the chances of getting a higher status for their offspring since it is easier to get high-quality education when a person comes from a wealthy family which can afford the access to different resources.
A more prestigious job position does not necessarily mean working harder and being responsible for more things. For example, my dad works in a company that builds and revamps bridges troughout the country and in borders of some neighbouring countries. As a big firm they have people who specialize in accounting and organizing as well as blue collar workers who make concrete and perform other physical tasks. If one thinks that managers deserve more money, that would imply that thinking is more exhausting than using muscle strength which is not the case. For successful activity of a company like this both types of employees are needed and important at the same level.
To sum up, all jobs in an organization need to be done and it is not a good practice to value workers based on an imaginary ranking.
There might be some exceptional situations where this rule is not applicable but in general it is better for all of the workers to have more or less similar salaries.
