A child’s education has never been solely about acquiring knowledge and basic skills. It has always involved guiding the younger generation to become responsible members of society. As such, this duty cannot fall on parents alone.
To become a responsible citizen, one must learn to respect and follow the rules of their community and embrace its shared values. While teaching children to respect rules and others typically starts at home and is commonly viewed as a parental duty, parents are usually the first to guide their children in understanding what is important in life, how to act appropriately, and the role they will eventually play in the world.
Still, developing an understanding of a society’s full value system cannot happen only within the home environment. Once children begin attending school, they become part of a broader community where teachers and classmates influence them just as much as their families do. At school, children interact with peers from diverse backgrounds and learn to collaborate and coexist with others. This exposure should help them develop the ability to work together and contribute meaningfully to their community.
However, becoming a contributing member of society is not a skill that can be learned quickly or once and for all. It is a lifelong process of learning and growth. Therefore, it is the collective duty of all members of society to support and guide the younger generation in becoming active, responsible citizens.Children’s behavior is one of the most important things in the world which comes from home.
