Nowadays, space exploration is one of the most sought-after fields of scientific research. It can be argued that space exploration offers the chance to deepen our understanding of the universe, while some practical aspects of the exploration results can be researched further for our daily lives. For example, the understanding of theory of relativity was applied for GPS development, and research for more sophisticated ways to observe space resulted in stronger, sturdier glass manufacture.
On the other hand, the dissidents state that space exploration distracts us form the more pressing issues that we have. Aside from the attempts to prove theories of cosmology, it is futile to seek for new habitable world or test the feasibility of space travel. Much of the funds and efforts for space exploration can be focused for other scientific problems of the earth.
It is undeniable that space exploration is important for scientific advancement, but it should be done mainly for confirming theoretical findings or seeking ways to exploit resources of space, to support our lives on earth. After all, we as humans have the responsibility to look after our earth.
