Some people believe that exploring space is a misuse of resources, while others think that it is essential for human beings to continue to navigate the universe. Although space exploration might develop scientific and technological aspects and enhance understanding of the universe, I agree with the former view because space exploration is significantly expensive and has an environmental impact.
On the one hand, space missions could drive innovation in fields such as materials science, robotics, and telecommunication technology. For instance, the development of satellite technology has revolutionized global integration, which advances individuals’ lifestyles. Furthermore, exploring space increases the development of understanding regarding the universe because it helps to understand the origins and mechanics of the world, potentially unlocking answers to the fundamental questions with respect to the existence of planets. However, in my opinion, space travel is meaningless and a waste of resources, as research is uncertain and there is no guarantee of returns, as a result it is not essential for individuals.
On the other hand, researching space requires a great deal of money due to critical research, which is why it is argued that it could be better to use resources on Earth’s basic issues, such as poverty, education, and other issues. For instance, people who traveled to the International Space Station spent a great amount of money, but now they believe that they would have addressed their fundamental problems by spending this money. In addition, space exploration has a detrimental effect on the environment because launching rockets and space debris can contribute to pollution and environmental degradation. For these reasons, I strongly agree that reaching space can have a significant impact on the economy and the ecosystem.
In conclusion, despite the advancement of innovation and comprehension about the universe in space exploration, which is uncertain and risky, I strongly agree that the space mission is expensive and has a harmful effect on the environment.
