Some individuals argue that lavishing money on special occasions and celebrations can be wasteful. However, I believe that this expenditure is an indispensable part of everyone’s life and the society.
On the one hand, proponents of such spending on extravagant parties as a waste of money argue that these events can negatively impact the true values of these gatherings. Extensive consideration of the amount of money allocated the ceremonial occasions can mean that material values may overshadow the core values of organizing the special events including happiness and relaxation. Indeed, the lavishing events can only bring temporary pleasure. Meanwhile, the core values of these occasions often stem from meaningful connections and fulfilling activities, which is an essential factor that a significant amount of money may not exclusively bring. Hence, in some cases, extravagant parties can be considered as squandering of money and lead to the situation where being obsessed with material things.
On the other hand, I still assert that investing a massive amount of money in celebrating special events is of paramount importance. Firstly, it is evident that celebrations provide an opportunity for people to come together, socialize, and strengthen their networking. Therefore, organizing sumptuous celebrations not only creates a sense of belonging but also shows a certain level of respect and gratitude to guests from the host, thereby lifting indelible memories to others and fostering social bonds. Furthermore, luxurious weddings and birthday parties serve as avenues to enhance personal social status. These extravagant celebrations can enable individuals to showcase their wealth, success, and influence, which can contribute to their popularity and reputation within their respective communities. For celebrities, in particular, these events often receive media coverage and public attention, further amplifying their social status and increasing their visibility.
In short, although squandering money on parties and celebrations can be exorbitant and wasteful, I strongly believe that this spending can be beneficial in fostering social connections and personal status.
